We'd long dreamed of presenting our startup on "The Lion's Den." However, the path to getting there was anything but easy: Our first application was unfortunately unsuccessful, but we had better luck on our second attempt and "only" had to survive all the casting rounds. With each step, our hope grew, even though we knew how competitive our industry is and how many strong applicants were competing with us.
To be perfectly prepared, we intensively researched potential questions investors might ask us. We ultimately compiled over 30 pages of answers and scenarios to cover all eventualities.
Then finally, the crucial call came: We're on set! The joy was immense—and the chaos was complete. Suddenly, everything had to happen quickly, and the right outfits were slow to arrive. They actually didn't arrive until the day of departure, but luckily, everything fit!
The day before filming, it all began: an eight-hour drive lay ahead of us. Our plan was to start the important day relaxed and well-rested, but as one of the first startups on the day, we had to get up early. The excitement was immense, and during the first shoot, we had trouble even getting a complete sentence out. But after the first few scenes, the nerves subsided, and we calmed down – the moment with the lions was getting closer and closer.
Just before we entered the room, we decided to make the most of the moment and simply enjoy it. The pitch and the lions' questions flew by, and before we knew it, it was all over. The entire scene must have lasted almost an hour, but it felt like ten minutes. The lions were super friendly, and we were thrilled about the deal.
After the pitch, we conducted interviews and had a conversation with Tillman and his team. We began the eight-hour journey back that same day, still overwhelmed by the impressions. It wasn't until the next morning that everything felt a bit more real.
Our day at “The Lion’s Den” was an unforgettable experience, and every hurdle along the way was more than worth it.
